Azam achieved the feat in 271 innings

Babar Azam breaks T20 world record

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has become the fastest batter to 10,000 runs in T20 history.

Azam achieved the feat in 271 innings during the match against Karachi Kings during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). He broke Chris Gayle’s record, who took 285 innings.

The prolific right-hander is leading Peshawar Zalmi during the ongoing PSL 9.

Before the match against Kings, Azam needed just six runs to achieve the milestone — which he did successfully.

Azam has played T20 cricket for 19 teams during his career, so far.

Fewest innings to 10,000 runs

271 – Babar Azam

285 – Chris Gayle

299 – Virat Kohli

303 – David Warner

327 – Aaron Finch

350 – Jos Buttler

It must be noted that Karachi captain Shan Masood won the toss and decided to bowl first against Peshawar.

“Good toss to lose, to be honest, we wanted to bat first. Pitch looks good so we will look to put runs on the board. We started well but couldn’t finish well (in the last game). Hopefully, we will get it right today,” Azam said at the toss.
